VEGAN GUIDE TO LOFOTEN
The traditional diet in Lofoten, consisting of fish, meat and potatoes, is still going strong. Fortunately, there are some restaurants that offer vegan dishes! We have made an overview of which ones.
If you are going to a restaurant that doesn’t have vegan dishes on their menu, we recommend that you contact them beforehand and let them know you want vegan food.

Børsen Spiseri
At Svinøya Rorbuer’s restaurant Børsen Spiseri they offers a vegetarian dish, which they can make vegan. The dish is salt celery filled cabbage with braised kohlrabi and asparagus. Originally the dish is served with a cheese sauce, but they can remove it so it’s vegan.

Nordis
Nordis restaurant is beautifully located by Svolvær Torg with big windows. Here you can order their Panang Curry and Quinoa salad.
Panang Curry
Carrot, bamboo shoot, lychee, green beans, coriander, radish and broccoli. Served with rice on the side.
Quinoa salad
Lettuce, cucumber, mango salad, carrot and herb oil. Ask for it to not have egg.

Restaurant Kjøkkenet
At Anker Brygge in Svolvær you can stay at one of their beautiful ‘rorbuer’. In their restaurant Kjøkkenet they always have a vegan dish available. Ask the waiter when you're there!

Restaurant Nihao
Nihao’s vegetarian dish is served with vegetables in soy sauce. Topped with cashewsnuts and served with rice.

Sakura Lofoten

Sakura have delicious asian dishes on their menu. Their combined sushi menu you can order vegan. It includes 14 bits with nigri, maki and gunkan. Vegan Maki is served with avocado, cucumber and mango. It’s topped with strawberry, teriyaki and sesame seeds. The vegan gunkan comes with mango. Their starter dishes, edamame beans and veggie rolls, are also vegan.

Klatrekaféen
The unique cafe in Henningsvær, Klatrekaféen, allows you to get to know people from all over the world. The cafe is one of the first eating places you see when you come from the big parking lot. They have creative signs on the front so you won’t miss it!
Here you can order their veggie burger, which is a homemade vegan patty of chickpeas and red beets, with vegan aioli, salad, tomato and chimichurri in a pretzel bun. This can also be served gluten free. Their daily dishes like soup and curry are always vegan.

Lysstøperiet kafé
The café at Lysstøperiet has vegan pizza and two other dinner/lunch dishes, plus cake!

Trevarefabrikken
Trevarefabrikken is a renewed 1940’s carpentry and oil factory in Henningsvær. It’s become a cultural hub where you can book accommodation and they also have several eating places (Trevare cafe, Steinbruddet and Hermetikken), excursions, yoga and sauna. In Trevare cafe they usually have vegan options and a vegan pizza at Steinbruddet.

Skrovabrygga
Skrova is described as Lofoten’s Hawaii. The small island have one restaurant: Skrovabrygga. They have two vegan dishes on their menu: ginger and carrot soup which is served with fresh focaccia bread (ask for without butter). It’s made with tasty vegetables, herpes and coconut milk. Or order their veggie burger!

Hjørnet Kafé
Hjørnet Kafé is a super cozy café in the center of Kabelvåg. They offer vegan pizza and raw cakes! They also have a vegan dinner dish with brussels sprouts, beetroot and sweet potatoes. We’ve tasted their pizza and lime raw cake and we really recommend it!

Alstad Kro & Camp is a great place for accommodation for families with young children. They are beautifully located at Knutstad and arrange activities. Here you can order their delicious carrot and ginger soup which is served with focaccia bread and hummus on the side.

People from all over the world travel to Unstad to surf - the waves are a surfers paradise! At Unstad Arctic Surf they serve vegan breakfast for their guest. They have vegan bread, butter, jam and oatmeal made of coconut milk and roasted nuts, hummus, focaccia with homemade pesto and salads. In addition they have created four new vegan dishes! Vegan Unstad Bowl, Hot pot (curry) and soup with spinach and broccoli. For all you cinnamon bun lovers out there: they have made a vegan version of their world famous cinnamon buns!

At beautiful Flakstad you will find Lofoten Beach Camp. They are located right by the beach, where it’s perfect for beginners to surf. They also have their own beach bar where they serve four vegan dishes.

Vegan Taco
2 vegetarian tacos served with beans, corn, red onions, sour cream, guacamole, salsa and a sprinkle of coriander. Always served with nachos on the side and a healthy squeeze of lime!
Vege Burger
A chickpea-based crispy patty, with guacamole and a spicy mayo. Served with fresh salad on a toasted bun.
Baked beetroot and Vegan cheese Salad
Baked beetroot and vegan cheese, tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers and a homemade dressing.

You can even have breakfast here. They have toast with vegan cheese and pesto, guacamole sandwich and granola with oat milk and berries.

Anitas sjømat
On beautiful Sakrisøy you will find Anitas sjømat. They have a very good vegan burger made with seaweed. It’s not on their menu online, but they confirmed in an email that they always have it. Perfect place to stop after you’ve walked Reinebringen!

Bringen café might be the coffeeshop with the most beautiful view. They serve coffee with plant milk and they usually have a vegan option you can enjoy in beautiful surroundings!

Gammelbua
Gammelbua belongs to Reine Rorbuer where you can book accommodation. The building Gammelbua is located in are dated back to the 18th century. They have outdoor seating in beautiful surroundings.
Their menu have three vegan dishes! As a starter you can order their vegan beetroot carpaccio with ruccola salad, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, vegan cheese, pomegranate and pistachio powder. Their main course is a delicious spicy vegan gyros with Vegme Pulled, vegetables and wild rice. They even have a vegan dessert! Chia seeds with coconut milk, mango puree and fruit.
